Christmas Cookies – Day 16

Thumbprint Cookies

8 ounces of cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chopped nuts
preserves – your choice of flavor

Beat cream cheese, butter and sugar in electric mixer until well blended. Add vanilla. Add flour and baking soda. Mix well. Stir in nuts.
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill for about 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Shape dough into one inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Indent centers and fill each with about 1 teaspoon of preserves.
Bake 14 to 16 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool on wire rack. Makes about 6 dozen cookies
